Quick tips to working with Search in Ms Outlook 2013

In the Outlook 2013 edition, Microsoft seems
to have made it a point to overwhelm its users with positive surprises. From a host of features to a new look and feel, the Outlook 2013 is a definitely a cut above the rest. The software behemoth incidentally has tweaked the way in which the search behaves and overall the speed of search seems to have improved. Let’s look at some key tips that would help you to effectively use the freshly revamped search feature.

Get Better Results By Fine Tuning the Locations that Outlook searches

The search feature can be tuned to search for specific locations even during a default search. For example in a standard search, the application would look for the data in the Current Mailbox. You can change this by going to the File tab and then clicking on Options and selecting Search. In the screen that opens up you can make the default destination as All Mailboxes or current folder as per your choice. There are several other options that are available and you choose the checkbox next to an option of your choice to implement the same.

Outlook May Limit the Number of Results Shown

As default the Outlook 2013 search limits the number of results shown while it does give a More option at the bottom of the display screen. Now if you do not wish to limit the result list you need to visit the Search options page that comes under the File, Options tab and then uncheck the box next to field that limits the number of results.

Use Advanced Search to look for Specific data

The advanced search feature in Outlook 2013 is tailored to help you refine you searches in an incisive manner. You can filter emails by their date and even sort emails that contain attachments. Moreover the advanced search can help you track emails by their file size and other details. Advanced users can enable the Query Builder functionality and use logical Boolean operators to create accurate queries.

Negotiating Corrupted PST files in Ms Outlook 2013

While the Outlook 2013 edition stands head and shoulders ahead of its predecessors it still remains bogged down by possibility of crashes. Interestingly some of its jazzed up features such as contact syncing etc are known to cause frequent crashes. Although most of these crashes can be termed as harmless, some of them can potentially corrupt the underlying PST files. To avoid even the minuscule chance of data loss, it makes sense for you to keep a reliable outlook repair tool like DataNumen Outlook repair around. It can help you get back your important emails in case of an Outlook crash within minutes irrespective of size of the Outlook file or its storage location. Apart from your emails, this versatile product can bring back your calendar entries and notes in quick time. Moreover it can also help you split up recovered Outlook files that are large in size into manageable smaller parts.
