Steps to take when the Ms Outlook client fails to Start

The popularity of the
Ms Outlook client today has reached a stage where every other office Desktop computer has the application running on it. Not only do we use Outlook for our business emails, many of us even use it for our personal emails too. While the application is a delightful product and a pleasure to use, it can still throw up some nasty surprises. At times when you launch the application you may receive an error message that reads “Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook”.  Now if your application fails to start then you simply cannot access your important emails and thus would land up in a mess. To recover from such a scenario just follow the steps given below.

Perform a Hard Reboot

The first basic thing that you should do when your Outlook client fails to start involves performing a Hard Reboot. Once the system has restarted you can look to launch the Outlook application. In case it still does not show up, advanced users can try to reset the navigation pane of Outlook from the Command prompt.

Start in Safe Mode and Remove Unnecessary Add-Ins

The next logical step to recover your application involves starting your System in Safe Mode. Or you can directly launch outlook in safe mode by keying in outlook.exe /safe
in the run window. Once the Outlook launches, you should remove the any Add-Ins that you feel are unnecessary or have been recently added. You may even consider the possibility of deleting your current Email profile as a matter of abundant caution.

Try Running the Inbox Repair tool

The Outlook application comes with a complementary tool to recover corrupt Outlook files. In case the Outlook application still does not work properly, you can run the Scanpst.exe file from the command prompt and recover the contents of your PST files. However it must be noted that the tool has a limited chance of success against extensive corruption and potent logical errors.

Recover your Data with a third party tool and reinstall the Outlook Application

In case the Outlook application does not startup in Safe Mode then you would need to actively considering recovering your data and reinstalling the application. You can start by obtaining a powerful outlook repair kit like the DataNumen Outlook Repair which is designed to extract all your emails. It incidentally can deal with extensively messed up PST files and can even bring back the emails from a crashed virtual machine drive. The application is know to give positive results nearly every time, irrespective of the size of your PST file and where they have been stored. Moreover it works with nearly every Outlook edition currently in use and completes the recovery process in quick time.

Once the tool has recovered your data, just rename the extracted PST files in a logical manner and save them at a different location. Next with the help of your Ms Office DVD, reinstall the Outlook application and then import the recovered PST files into the email client.
